Define the measurement object and position
Installation information starts with the site edge or access position, test-post arrangement, burial and reference-electrode position. In a project discussion, describe the pipeline, tank or other protected structure and whether the task is potential, current, insulation or casing measurement.
The position also affects cable length, maintenance space, site protection and later data checks. Product shape alone is not a sufficient selection basis.
Coordinate reference electrodes, test pieces and backfill
The installation sequence may include the reference tube, backfill, test piece and measurement check. The reference electrode must sit in a position suited to the measurement environment, while the test pieces and backfill should preserve the intended measurement relationship.
Pit depth, spacing, backfill and construction dimensions should follow the current project documents and engineering review.
Wiring and upload complete the monitoring chain
A field wiring example may bring pipeline, reference, natural-potential, interrupted-potential, AC-current and grounding signals into the acquisition equipment. After wiring, check communication, protection, power and data upload status.
If smart acquisition is required, include the measurement items, communication method, power conditions and data-platform requirements in the inquiry.
Key points
- Define the test point and installation position first
- Place reference electrodes and test pieces as a coordinated set
- Check wiring, power, communication and upload step by step
