At 20℃, the density of magnesium metal is 1.738g/cm3, and the density of liquid magnesium metal is 1.58g/cm3; At standard atmospheric pressure, magnesium metal melting point is (650±1)℃, boiling point is 1090℃. The purity of industrial magnesium can reach 99.9%, but pure magnesium can not be used as a structural material, adding aluminum and zinc in pure magnesium

(1) The weight of light magnesium alloy is the lightest among all structural alloys. Its weight is 68% of aluminum alloy, 27% of zinc alloy and 23% of steel. (2) The specific strength and specific stiffness of magnesium alloy is significantly higher than that of aluminum alloy and steel, and the specific stiffness is similar to that of aluminum alloy and steel, but much higher than that of engineering plastics, which is 10 times that of general plastics.
