Abstract: Magnesium alloy die casting began to rise in China in recent years. Lijin Group entered this industry early in China, and is currently the only domestic enterprise specializing in the research and development of magnesium alloy die casting equipment. This paper introduces the development process of lijin magnesium alloy industry and the marketing service chain of Lijin magnesium alloy.

1, the background

1.1 Application of magnesium alloy

As the lightest metal material, magnesium has a series of unique property advantages. However, its large-scale industrial application has been hindered by three bottleneck problems in the past, such as poor corrosion resistance, manufacturing difficulties and high raw material prices.

1.2 Development of magnesium industry

In the mid-1990s, China's magnesium industry rose. In a few years, the production and sales volume has increased by more than 20 times, which has profoundly affected the pattern of the world magnesium industry. The world's largest magnesium plant, the U.S. Doyle Magnesium plant, announced its closure at the end of 1998, ending its 85-year history of producing magnesium. The price of magnesium in the international market dropped from $3000-4450 /t year by year to $1300 /t in 2000, about 20% lower than the price of aluminum ingots. As a result, the price bottleneck of large-scale industrial application of magnesium alloy has been opened, and the application of magnesium alloy in various industrial fields has been growing rapidly.

In 1996, Japan's SONY took the lead in applying magnesium alloy to ultra-thin notebook computers, which became popular immediately and caused the market to sell out. Therefore, magnesium alloy rapidly enters the application of various high-grade 3C products in large numbers. A new field of application of magnesium alloy has been developed.

Even though the price of magnesium alloy products is much higher than that of plastic products, it is still popular in electronic products because of its unique advantages, and magnesium alloy products have become a symbol of advanced products and high quality.

2002 ◆ The installation, commissioning and trial production of the complete set of magnesium alloy die casting equipment provided by LIjin for FAW Group was successfully completed in FAW Casting Company, and the whole line was put into normal operation.

◆ Two sets of magnesium alloy die casting production lines provided by LIjin for Israel OPP company are in normal operation. Moreover, we have carried out in-depth cooperation with the company in the field of magnesium alloy die casting technology. The parent factory of the company in Israel has rich experience in the production of magnesium alloy die casting products. The cooperation with the company has made lijin have a deeper breakthrough and master in the manufacturing technology of magnesium alloy die casting products.

◆ Tsinghua -- Lijin Die Casting High-tech Research Center has made a breakthrough in the research and development of magnesium alloy furnace, gas protection technology and waste recovery technology. The former has completed the trial phase of research and development. Breakthroughs in waste recycling technology and equipment will significantly reduce production costs for users.

◆ The 2000 ton magnesium alloy die casting machine developed by Lijin Company has been manufactured in Lijin New high-tech Industrial Park, Longhua, Shenzhen, and the commissioning will be completed in December 2002. The continuous breakthrough in the manufacturing capacity of high-technical and difficult large-tonnage magnesium alloy die casting equipment makes Lijin firmly control the technological commanding point in the industry and steadily occupies the position of the leading enterprise in the industry.
